What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.

In my younger years, I was home-schooled by my parents. Although I joined activities such as gymnastics, piano, and track, and excelled at school, I suffered socially. My creative mind didn’t know how to share or express my passions. I didn’t know how to communicate with the other kids because I had no practice. That is when I recognized my desperate need of learning to communicate. I didn’t know how I would do it, but the next big decision I’d make would forever change my trajectory.

During high school, I joined Cosmetology classes. That was the true beginning of my career journey.

Within the first 3 years of my career in Cosmetology, I realized my love for supporting and encouraging women. I was able to make them feel beautiful and add to their confidence.

However, I found so much more joy in planting & watering seeds of confidence than standing behind the chair with my clientele. I became the catalyst for their heightened self esteem and relationship success stories. This led me to attain my certificate as Certified Professional Coach in 2011.

Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say YES, go for it!”

Within my role as a Coach, Founder, and CEO, I drew upon personal life lessons, and an intuitive perspective to find unique solutions for my clients. I then took other coaches under my wing and shared with them how to replicate the process I was applying.

From poor self image, mistakes, and loss, to renewed faith in God, confidence, to a positive emotional state, I knew I had a wealth of knowledge to offer. The more positive feedback I received, the more I recognized the confirmation of my calling.

As a coach and Founder of Discover A Better You LLC, my focus began coaching on the basics of creating lasting, positive relationships and shedding negative ones. I realized the importance of relationships in every capacity – family, love life, and in the workplace. You cannot be successful if your relationship-building skills are not as equally developed.

This brought me to Co-found Heart-Centered Matters, where we taught those same principles to youth! I knew that the sooner we instilled these necessary truths to a younger generation, the better off they’d be as kids, young adults, and as grown adults. They would potentially avoid many of the mistakes I had encountered as a teen figuring things out the hard way.

Tell us something about your initiative or current role. What is it about, and what impact are you trying to make?

My latest passion project has been putting the principles I’ve learned and taught for 12 years into words on apparel. I want EVERYONE to have a voice – the voice I hadn’t yet found yet in my youth… a voice of self confidence, a voice that stands up for what is in your heart, a voice that uplifts others and spreads inspiration and love, and a voice that won’t back down!

I love being able to do that at the same time as teaching my kids honorable principles, while building a legacy for them.

Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?

During my coaching career, I have had the honor of being recognized as one of The Top 10 Relationship Coaches Transforming Lives in 2020 in Yahoo Finance, landed a spot on the Fuel Your Vision podcast with Alex Lombard, got featured as a host in Joel Brown’s A2S Academy, and had my nonprofit Heart-Centered Matters featured in Medium. I have also been a guest contributor in many additional classes and courses.

Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?

My dream for the world is to see more strong women standing up for what they believe, more unity, less judgment, and more healthy communication among us all.

Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women leadership today?

We, as women, are powerful and passionate. It’s about time we embrace that truth and own it! Yes, we CAN be dynamic leaders, as well as wives and mothers. It does not have to be an either-or scenario!

What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?

If you are reading this, it is meant for you! If you have a goal, a dream, or a passion burning inside of you, it is there for a purpose! Fire only dies  if it has no room to breathe. Share your dream aloud and speak your heart! Join with those who believe in your cause! Even when you are scared or feel you don’t have what it takes, remember that heart, consistency, and grit will always take you further than ability.
