What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.

I was an athlete growing up and I played sports of all kinds! I played soccer in college, and being an athlete has shaped my identity in many ways. My time as a soccer player taught me the importance of teamwork, dedication, work ethic, and resilience. After graduating, I worked at several tech start-ups in a variety of roles, including marketing, customer experience, and sales. I eventually found my passion in recruiting! As a recruiter, I loved having meaningful conversations with people and learning about their passions, strengths, and career goals. During my time as a recruiter, I quickly came to realize that the coaching side of recruiting is where my true passion lies. I made the decision to launch TideShift Coaching to blend my diverse background of marketing and customer experience with my experience as a recruiter; using these skill sets, I’m able to deliver a personalized experience for my clients wherein I help them navigate their career journeys. I tailor my coaching to each client, and help them according to whichever phase of their job search they’re in!

Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say YES, go for it!”

What motivated me to go for it with TideShift Coaching was the recurring theme I experienced while working as a recruiter. I would constantly hear from potential candidates that they were nervous, or that this was the 100th job they’d applied to, or that they were struggling to figure out how to navigate their job searches to yield better results. I also heard these same pain points from my friends and family, who would often ask me for help with their own job searches. Personally, I love interviewing. I find that if you can shift your mindset to treat an interview more like a conversation than a “test,” it makes the entire experience more enjoyable and less nerve-racking. These are the types of mindset shifts that I hope to teach my clients. My main motivation with launching this business was to help people feel excited and energized by their job search, as opposed to worried and nervous.

Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women leadership today?

I’m so thrilled to see more and more female leaders rising to the top of their fields and companies. As the statistics continue to improve and we continue to see more women holding positions of leadership in our society, I am excited to see how this has a ripple effect for younger generations of women who are just launching their careers. I believe that women should always be looking out to support rising female leaders, and pay it forward to make sure that emerging female leaders are able to show the world what they can do when given the opportunity to lead from the top. My hope is that one day, having women in leadership positions will be so common that young girls will come to regard women leading countries, companies, cities and teams as something that they see everywhere and all the time.

What’s the most important thing you have learned in your personal life and professional journey? What is your personal motto in life?

My personal motto is: If you chase two rabbits, you’ll catch zero. The biggest thing I’ve learned in my personal and professional life is to not try to do everything all at once. Instead, prioritize what you need to get done one thing at a time. Be mindful of what’s most important to you in any given moment, or on any given day, or during any given time in your life. Prioritize what makes you happy and fulfilled, and success will come naturally!

With your grit and determination, you are making a considerable impact, breaking through, and serving as role models for many budding entrepreneurs. What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?

I would say that, don’t be afraid to bet on yourself. Don’t put a limit on what you think you can do, and don’t be afraid to chase down the life you’ve always dreamed of having. Will achieving your dream life require hard work and sacrifice? Yes. But will it be worth it? Absolutely!!
