Susan Walsh
Susan Walsh is Founder and Managing Director of The Classification Guru Ltd, a specialist data classification, taxonomy customisation and data cleansing consultancy.
She is an industry thought leader, TEDx speaker, DataIQ100 2022, and author of ‘Between the Spreadsheets: Classifying and Fixing Dirty Data’. She’s also the creator of the COAT philosophy.
Tell us about your life before the venture/ leading up to your venture?
My first business had collapsed and I needed a job fast. I found an ad online for data classification and that’s where my love of data began.
Tell us something about your organization. What is it about and how is it helpful for people?
We are fixers of dirty data, and we love what we do! We help organisations by taking the load and effort out of classifying or cleaning their data, returning it as accurate and trustworthy as it can be normally in less time than it can be done in-house.
What has been the response of the consumers towards your venture?
it’s been amazing, no one knew who I was, and I didn’t know anyone when I started this business. Now I get to speak at events all over the world, I’ve been listed as a DataIQ100, I’ve done a TEDx talk and written a book Between the Spreadsheets!
How has your life changed because of your venture?
I’m more confident in myself, I push myself to be better and do more things outside my comfort zone. And a few people know who I am now 🙂

Be yourself, always. And have belief in what you do, because no one else will if you don’t.
