Maxine K Brown

Maxine K Brown, Life Coach & Hypnotherapist, has been completing different coaching and counseling courses for many years to help people going through challenging times. She specializes in grief and bereavement support. She started MKB Life Coach in January 2021 as she felt it was time to leave full-time employment and start helping others full-time. She has personally been through loss, a marriage breakup, and tough times throughout her life, so she can relate to you even though no person’s situation is the same. She aims to assist people in enabling them to continue with their lives and feel happy and content when they have struggled through life-changing periods of their lives. Her values are to be supportive, empathetic, and affordable always, and she wants everyone to feel safe when they are either in a one-to-one or group session with her. Recently she published a self-help book, “31 Days Life Changing Journal”, which is aimed at helping people change their mindset and start to become positive after going through a traumatic time. Maxine believes it is essential that you feel at ease with her when you are working together, so with this in mind, she offers everyone a free half hour meeting.

What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before the venture/ corporate journey?

My life as a child was wonderful, I was extremely lucky, I had a pony and dogs and enjoyed ;lovely holidays with my family. I spent time with my grandparents which was enjoyable and also with my aunts and uncles.

Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business/initiative? What motivated you within to say “YES, go for it!”

My motivation to start my business was because after the death of my daughter and the break up my marriage I found it difficult to speak to people about the way I felt it was also extremely expensive finding a life/ bereavement coach I could afford, so with all of this in mind I completed many curses and vowed that I would be affordable so that anybody can be assisted.

Tell us something about your initiative or current role. What is it about, and what impact are you trying to make?

MY present role is enabling support for people struggling with their lives and needing someone to help talk things through and point them in the right direction for them. It is difficult to talk to a friend or family as the majority of the time they will always give advice that will make you feel better and may not be exactly what is needed.

Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?

I have trained as a hypnotherapist to increase my ability to help. I have now published 5 books, 2 self help and 2 children books and one recipe book. I have appeared on many podcasts, radio stations and newspapers talking about coming through a traumatic time.

Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?

I think that people need to be encouraged to live their lives fully without feeling guilty about standing up for themselves and walking away from situations that don’t suit them. You only have one life and you need to ensure that you get the most out of it. If you are not happy where or what you are doing be BRAVE and start again. It may feel scary but it will be worth it.

Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women’s leadership today?

I encourage all women to find their feet and aim for the top. When I worked in the corporate world, I was a minority in the management, I felt proud being many times the single female. We are just as capable as any man and should always remember that. Also having a good mix of male and female  ratio enhances the workplace as we all have different views.

What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?

Listen to what your heart tells you and always go with your instinct as this will benefit you and lead you to where you want to be. Don’t be afraid to ask for support and TALK, it’s so important.
