Janine Bowen has dedicated her entire career to training, coaching, and leading individuals. She is passionate about her personal growth and that of her clients who choose to work with her.
What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.
Growing up with a teenage mother who raised me on her own instilled a strong sense of resilience and determination in me. After earning a degree in social work, I worked in that field for six years before coming to the realization that the system wasn’t empowering people to achieve their full potential. I then transitioned to the corporate sector, where I gained valuable experience in leadership, training, and strategic planning. During that time, I discovered my passion for nurturing and supporting people’s growth. In 2017, I became a certified coach, which led me to establish HERCOLLECTED in 2020 amidst the pandemic. When I’m not working, you’ll find me exploring the city, cooking, trying new restaurants, or curled up with a good book. My dog Milo, a 12-year-old Bichon/Poodle, brings me joy and laughter daily. I’m also inspired by sheroes like Issa Ray, Viola Davis, and Maya Angelou – all talented women of colour who have overcome obstacles and made their mark in their respective fields
Tell us something about your initiative/business. What is it about and how is it helpful for people?
Changing careers can be a daunting task for anyone, and I can relate to the challenges it poses. That’s why my business is dedicated to coaching and supporting women who seek a more fulfilling life to overcome their fears and achieve their goals. I offer an array of tools, from independent workbooks to group coaching sessions and one-on-one support, to help women advance on their journey.
While the global pandemic of COVID-19 is associated primarily with adversities, it has also brought about a true boom in startups, with successful entrepreneurship in many countries. The pandemic has impacted all of us in one way or another. Would you like to share your experience on a personal and professional level?
The pandemic led to the creation of HERCOLLECTED, a platform that has encouraged many individuals to explore their personal awakening. Furthermore, this movement has given momentum to the fourth wave of feminism, with women embracing self-care and prioritizing their happiness. They have realized that taking care of oneself is not a selfish act but a necessary one. This newfound understanding has inspired women to seek out supportive communities and strive for more in all aspects of their lives.
What has been the response of the users/consumers towards your venture?

How has your life changed because of your initiative/venture?
This venture has helped me to discover my life’s purpose and find significance in my daily routine. Even when the work seems mundane, I understand that it’s a vital piece of the bigger picture. Additionally, it has allowed me to establish a stronger connection with myself. I’ve learned to depend on my intuition to guide me and trust that everything is working in my favor, granting me a sense of security.
Do you have anyone who is the biggest support system in your life? Please let us know.
While I am a highly independent and self-motivated person, I do rely on my friends for support every now and then. These relationships have been carefully cultivated over the course of several decades and hold immense value to me.
Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity? OR Share a motivational message for the audience/women who are reading this.
As women, we sometimes find ourselves confined to certain roles (mother, sister, wife), and we struggle to break free and express our individuality. Change is necessary for growth, and it’s time to step out of the shadows of other people’s expectations and limitations. Although it may be a challenging journey, embracing change is worthwhile and rewarding.
