Nina Scurtu

Nina Scurtu is a Career Coach.

She tells us that, “Because the school I work for is also the co-founder of my company, it is so much easier to balance everything, as half of my time I spend on the business and half of it I spend working.  Last year I wasn’t so good at balancing everything, as I was also studying full time, working full time and running the business, but this year I made goals to change this, and set aside the evening hours for my family and myself only.”

When faced with unexpected hurdles in your business, how do you stay strong?

I have mentors that keep me motivated and that always help me overcome challenges through continuous support and ideas.

How do you determine the success of your business beyond financial metrics, focusing on factors like customer satisfaction and community impact?

In my case, determining the success is quite easy. If the client has achieved their goals, then this is a success to me. Also, when I see hope in my client’s eyes, that is also success. When I see that they start believing in themselves more makes me very happy.

Can you recount a pivotal moment in your business journey where you saw remarkable growth or witnessed a transformative change, showcasing the impact of your products or services?

Yes. I got more clients once I started actively using LinkedIn for marketing. I realized that other social media platforms were not as effective as LinkedIn was, so I just focused on it, and it paid off.

In your view, how crucial is mentorship for the success of small businesses, and how have mentors influenced your own entrepreneurial path?

It is very crucial. The first thing that they helped me with is keeping me accountable. They made sure I followed through with my goals and didn’t give up. They also provided me with ideas and sometimes even tools to make the whole process easier. I will forever be grateful for the mentors I have in my life.

I remember in one of my business classes in school I watched a video of a business man talking about his mentors, and he mentioned a list of 7 books. I love this idea. Books helped me a lot. I read a lot of self-development, motivational and business oriented books. While reading them I would often be overwhelmed with new ideas for the business.

What is your business focused on, and how does it contribute to making a positive difference in the world?

My business focuses on providing education about career success and helping people get better job opportunities, regardless of where they are in their career journey.

What special ability do you wish you had to make your job easier?

I wish I was better at Marketing.

If you could invite three fictional characters to help you plan your next project, who would you choose, and why?

I would invite Hermione Granger from Harry potter because she is very creative and comes up with great ideas. Then, I would probably invite Alice Cullen from Twilight as she can see the future, and she can tell me what marketing trends would be popular so I can be first to know them, as I am always behind, and of course, the Iron Man, as he is very intelligent and also has great ideas and resources.
