What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.
Growing up in an emotionally unstable home was a tough journey. At just 17 years old, I embarked on a solo move from one country to another, thrust into the realm of adulthood. I navigated life in a perpetual state of “fight or flight” until fate introduced me to my best friend, who introduced me to therapeutic approaches, and my yoga teacher, who became my anchor. My mentor who threw me into the deep end when it can to traditional medicine and understanding. My journey had always involved assisting others in improving their dietary health, but it was through this process that I discovered the significance of emotional well-being. I embarked on a path of continuous learning, enrolling in courses and gaining practical experience working with an alternative health company and a Healing Center. This journey led me to establish my own practice as a Life, Health, and Wellness Coach. Presently, I am pursuing specialized certification in Complementary and Alternative Medicine through the Medical Institute in South Africa, solidifying my commitment to holistic health and well-being. The rest, as they say, is history in the making.
Tell us something about your initiative/business. What is it about and how is it helpful for people?
I provide comprehensive wellness programs designed for individuals seeking transformative life changes. My clients often seek alternatives because their current options no longer fulfill their needs, particularly in addressing their emotional well-being. Our vision extends to establishing an Alternative Medical Centre, not only serving as a training hub for future coaches and practitioners but where we can intake clients and host practitioners. We aspire to become the foremost wellness center for practitioners in Southern Africa, promoting holistic health and personal growth.
While the global pandemic of COVID-19 is associated primarily with adversities, it has also brought about a true boom in startups, with successful entrepreneurship in many countries. The pandemic has impacted all of us in one way or another. Would you like to share your experience on a personal and professional level?
In 2020, I launched my Essential Wellness Coach website, and a year later, while traveling around South Africa in 2021, it was unfortunately hijacked and stolen from me. Undeterred, I relaunched my business without a website and instead created the Digital Magazine “Essential Wellness Journal.” I also expanded my wellness events and bolstered my social media presence. This period was marked by significant personal and professional growth, with numerous realizations and transformations. I learned to adapt my business and lifestyle to unconventional rhythms, finding balance between busy days and tranquil ones. Importantly, I discovered that clients often seek me out, eliminating the need for constant searching.
What has been the response of the users/consumers towards your venture?
Frequently, individuals and clients express astonishment at my depth of knowledge despite my youth. They are often taken aback by the extent of my accomplishments, which continue to grow. I’ve garnered recognition through features in five newspapers and three international radio interviews. Over the span of four years, I’ve conducted more than 30 workshops across three provinces. Additionally, I curated a digital wellness magazine, assumed the role of a dance fitness instructor, and am actively involved in expanding the Essential Wellness Coach team, which is presently undergoing comprehensive training.
How has your life changed because of your initiative/venture?
My life has undergone a remarkable transformation due to my initiative and venture. Initially, I never believed I possessed the capabilities I’ve uncovered along this journey. The challenges I faced molded me into the person I am today. At one point, I confronted the choice to either succumb to adversity or rise above it. Through my initiative, I’ve managed to break numerous generational patterns, becoming the first in my family to tread this path. This venture has guided me towards a profound understanding of life’s inherent beauty, which we can embrace if we’re willing to unlearn preconceptions. Throughout it all, I’ve remained humble and grounded, recognizing the importance of humility on this transformative journey.
